Working in various studios across the UK and in Berlin, Mickey’s sound takes inspiration from all the many projects in which he has been involved. His fresh new approach to hip hop manages to pay homage to the old school sounds that inspired him in the first place and yet breaks all other boundaries you thought you knew. His love for turntablism cannot be missed, holding down most of the beats with a scratch, he finds harmony between choir vocalists, childlike recorder riffs and grime super bass. His playful lyrical style and technical concepts have been taken seriously by various collaborators in the studio such as Talvin Singh, Taylor Savvy, Bone Idols, MAS P and Mocky, who have all invited him back time and time again to travel with them along his own musical journey.
